Unpainted Figures: Andrea Miniatures and Alpine Miniatures

Bgs Toy Soldiers is now starting to add unpainted military miniature kits to our available products offered through our website: www.BgsToySoldiers.com. The first two lines we have added are the Alpine Miniatures and Andrea Miniatures lines. These both have proven to be quite popular in the first few weeks, and we will be expanding out into other lines in the coming months. Having painted figures in the past, and most recently finishing a Hessian Grenadier figure, I can say that it is exciting to be adding unpainted kits to our family of products. We will continue to carry all the finished lines and add to them as well this year as planned. Here is a little info about each of the new lines.

Alpine Miniatures does resin cast figures of the World War II era. They have a 1/16 and 1:35 scale line. Every two months, they release one 1/16 figure and 3 1/35 figure kits. Each 1:35 kit

Andrea Miniatures: French Imperial Guard Grenadier, 1812 - S7-F29

contains two heads for each figure in the kit, so that you the painter have a choice on how you want your figure to look.

Andrea Miniatures are white metal cast kits. Most Andrea Miniatures are 1:32 (54mm) scale, but they do have a few lines that are 90mm and a few 1:30 scale kits as well. We will primarily care the military miniature 1:32 scale lines only. Currently we have a small sample of figures from Andrea Miniatures Napoloenic Wars and Medieval Miniatures Collection. We will be adding the rest of the figures from both of these lines in the next few weeks, before adding the Golden West and General War series.

We can get Andrea Miniatures painted as well for anyone that wants a piece from their line that is pre-painted. If interested in a piece pre-painted, let me know and I can check the price and availability for you. Get your Andrea Miniatures and Alpine Miniatures at www.BgsToySoldiers.com.

John Jenkins Designs: The Condor Legion: Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen 1 Ausf B (PzBefw 1) - COND-04

John Jenkins Designs: Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen - COND-04

Scale: 1:30 (60mm)

John Jenkins Designs - The Condor Legion: Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen 1 Ausf B (PzBefw 1) the Condor Legion military miniature collection. Perfect toy soldier for WWII military diorama. Hand crafted Toy Soldier collectible.

Germany sent 4 Befehlswagen 1 Command tanks to Spain. They were first issued 1 per company, and 1 in the battalion headquarters.

These were a version of the PZKPFW 1 AUSF B, but with a fixed superstructure and additional radio equipment. The provision of dedicated radio vehicles was due to the Wehrmacht's prescient view that radio communications were essential in co-ordinating modern mobile operations. The German Command considered that the leader of a tank subdivision himself should not necessarily participate in the battle; his task lied in the battle control. Therefore, commander's tanks of the first series had no armament at all. The tanks crew consisted of three people: a tank commander (who was also the leader of the tank division), tank driver and radio-telegrapher. Later it was determined that the tank should have arms and it was equipped with one MG - 13 machine gun of 7,92 mm caliber. Radio equipment included a transceiver FuG 6 with 13 - 16 km reach and receiving radio station FuG 2.

The prominent St. Andrews Cross painted on the roof was an air identity mark, common on Nationalist tanks to prevent straffing by friendly aircraft.

John Jenkins Designs: Battle of Fort Carillon, Ticonderoga

In the battle, which took place primarily on a rise about three-quarters of a mile (one km) from the fort itself, a French army of about 4,000 men under General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm and the Chevalier de Levis decisively defeated an overwhelmingly numerically superior force of British troops under General James Abercrombie, which frontally assaulted an entrenched French position without using field artillery. Abercrombie, confident of a quick victory, ignored several viable military options, such as flanking the French breastworks, waiting for his artillery, or laying siege to the fort. Instead, relying on a flawed report from a young military engineer, and ignoring some of that engineer's recommendations, he decided in favor of a direct frontal assault on the thoroughly entrenched French, without the benefit of artillery. The battle was the bloodiest of the war, with over 3,000 casualties suffered, of which over 2,000 were British The 42nd Regiment, known as the Black Watch, paid dearly with the loss of many lives and many severely wounded. More than 300 men (including 8 officers) were killed, and a similar number were wounded, representing a significant fraction of the total casualties suffered by the British. Collectors Showcase: Scots Greys Napoleonic Cavalry

Collectors Showcase will be releasing 8 Scots Greys Cavalry figures in late October. These figures will be available for pre-order at www.BgsToySoldiers.comthe third week of September 2010. We will have the figures available individually and as a set. The new Scots Greys Cavalry set will be limited to 400 total sets available worldwide. These new figures were designed using a new technique for capturing the uniforms on the soldiers in action with physics taken into account, which Collectors Showcase has dubber "Mini-Cloth". This is what Collectors Showcase has to say about this new set of figures:

"The Royal Scots Greys ride again! TCS is very happy to present our next Napoleonic installment.
These eight figures are packed full of action and for the first time ever incorporate our new proprietary physics sculpting model that perfectly imitates the behavior of real clothing in miniature. Known as minicloth it truly takes sculpting to whole new level. Minicloth was written in-house and takes into account simulations that incorporate physics and density of whatever attributes we assign, from dense wool to thin cotton. You'll think you're looking at a real rider and horse! MiniCloth brings forth a new era in miniatures never before seen: our in-house technology combined with traditional techniques, brings forth results that are pretty amazing. Naturally we'll be using minicloth on all of our sculpts moving forward. We'll be showing these pieces in Chicago and wait till you get a close look, it's pretty wild.
The action has been pushed further again and the paint combines our popular gritty look with the bright colors of the Scots Greys uniform. We thought after doing our 92nd Highlanders it would be great to set the scene right with the Grey's charging-right into a battery of French guns! Well we left out the French casualties but we think we captured the mood alright!"
